Community Garden

Peace Lutheran Church has granted us the privilege of using approximately 0.6 acres on the SW corner of their property for use as a community garden.  Here we will develop demonstration plots for best (or experimental) practices in fruit and vegetable production.  Among the items envisioned are raised beds, square foot plots, strawberry beds, blackberry and raspberry plots, compost bins and other.  We will plant crops such as potatoes, beans, turnips and others for donation to area food pantries and other needy individuals/groups.  The community garden will present wonderful opportunities for members to practice and develop their own gardening skills and techniques.

A Production Committee will oversee planning and development of the community garden.  Volunteers will be needed to carry out the plans.  All levels of experience will be helpful and volunteers may put in as much or little time as they wish.  We will report progress on other pages in this website.

Prayer Garden

Near the Community Garden is a Prayer Garden that was developed as an Eagle Scout project by Paul J. Paul will be away much of the time at school and has asked us to care for it.  It consists of three small raised beds in which flowers are planted and a bench whereon a visitor may sit and meditate or just enjoy the beauty.  The Prayer Garden committee will oversee the activity.
